Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home Appreciates Our Great Volunteers!

After receiving required training, hospice volunteers may run errands, support caregivers, stay with patients, pick-up and deliver prescriptions.

Additionally, they work at Hospice Home answering phones, assisting with meals, serving patients, as well as spending time listening and providing companionship and support.

Our volunteers also assist in the office with clerical work and making bereavement calls.

Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home

Needs Volunteers

Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home needs volunteers to assist the agency in a variety of roles.  Volunteers help patients in their homes and nursing homes and may spend time reading to patients, running errands or giving time off to the patient’s caregiver. Volunteer support is also needed in the 14-bed in-patient Hospice Home. Duties include patient support activities and clerical support. There is a special need for evening and weekend volunteers.  Garden volunteers are also needed to help maintain the Seasons of Life perennial garden adjacent to Hospice Home.

Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home is a non-profit, community-based agency that provides support and end-of-life care for a thirteen-county area in northeast Indiana. The agency employs an interdisciplinary team approach that includes a medical director, nurses, aides, social workers, spiritual care, music therapy and volunteers. Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home not only provides care for the patient but support and assistance for the family as well.

A thorough 19-hour volunteer training session will be held in early spring. Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home provides ongoing guidance, support and training through our organized and well-established volunteer program.
