Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, a non-profit hospice
agency based in Fort Wayne, has an office at 205 S. Washington Street
in Marion. The Marion office provides patient care in the home and
in long-term-care facilities in Grant and six neighboring counties.
Dr. B.D. Patel of Marion oversees hospice care as the medical director.
Hospice employs a team approach which provides multi-disciplined
care for terminally ill patients and support for the family. Working
in conjunction with the patient’s own physician, the hospice
team includes: medical director, nurses, home health aides, social
workers, spiritual care coordinators and volunteers.
In addition to Grant County, the Marion office serves
patients in Blackford, Delaware, Howard, Madison, Miami and Tipton
counties. The main Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home office in Fort
Wayne serves patients in eight northeastern Indiana counties, including
Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wabash, Whitley and Wells
counties. The agency also operates Hospice Home, a 14-bed in-patient
facility in Fort Wayne.
Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home is a 105-year-old,
community-based agency that provides support and end-of-life care
for people of all ages. Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home not only
provides care for the patient but support and assistance for the
family as well. Hospice care is generally covered by Medicare, Medicaid
and private insurance. Charity funds assist patients who do not
have such coverage or financial resources.
